Reviews in German: Brillant inszenierte, subversive Komödie um einen etwas debilen Gärtner, der per Zufall in das Haus eines einflußreichen Wirtschaftsmagnaten verschlagen und durch seine simplen Aussagen über die Natur als kompetenter Wirtschaftler und Politiker mißverstanden wird. Hal Ashby inszenierte "Willkommen, Mr. Chance" als satirische Auseinandersetzung mit der amerikanischen "Fernsehgesellschaft" und der naiven Leichtgläubigkeit seiner Landsleute - im Wahlkampfjahr 1980 nicht ohne hintergründige Ironie.
