Synopsis in German
Tragisch endende Liebesgeschichte: Der russische Fürst Viktor Gagarin heiratet heimlich Natascha, das Mündel des Gouverneurs Maljutow. Da dieser nicht damit einverstanden ist, kommt es zum Streit der beiden Männer, bei dem Viktor den Gouverneur erschießt. Er wird verurteilt, nach Sibirien verbannt, flieht und wird Anführer einer Räuberbande. Als ausgerechnet Natascha in die Hände der Bande fällt, kommt es zum Kampf unter den Räubern. Das Messer, das für Gagarin bestimmt ist, trifft Natascha. Gagarin verliert den Lebensmut und geht ins Kloster. – In einer zweiten Fassung des Films stirbt Natascha am Ende nicht, sondern das Paar wandert in ein anderes Land aus. (www.filmportal.de)
