Noch heute wirkt der Film, dessen Bildsprache stark von Eisenstein und Pudowkin beeinflusst ist, durch seine stimmige visuelle Gestaltung (in Zusammenarbeit mit George Grosz) und durch die Mitwirkung exzellenter Schauspieler wie Paul Wegener und Wilhelm Dieterle.
