Bis er aufwacht, sind dreitausend Bräute auf allen Vehikeln Amerikas vom Rollschuh bis zum Flugzeug eingetroffen, und der Pastor schickt sie sämtlich wieder nach Hause, weils ja doch eine Mystifikation sei. Auf der Flucht vor den entfesselten Megären trifft Buster den Neger mit Sweethearts Jawortbrief, und nun geht’s erst richtig los. Die Verfolgung durch die dreitausend Brautkranzfurien, die Flucht auf Hebekränen und andern Fahrzeugen, und wie die ihn immer wieder erwischen und die ganze Polizeimannschaft vor ihnen Reißaus nimmt: das haben wir schon manches liebe und lachende Mal gesehen. Aber wie er läuft! Diese Unbeirrbarkeit, mit der er seine Richtung einhält, vor den Verfolgerinnen aufgibt und wiedergewinnt, diese phänomenale Gleichgültigkeit, mit der jedes Hindernis überwunden wird, diese unblutige Amokläuferei unter einem viertelstündigen Steinschlag: das muss man gesehen haben.» [M.M.
