Synopsis in German
Dr. Yotamo, ein junger japanischer Wissenschaftler, arbeitet mit Dr. van Halsten gemeinsam in der Krebsforschung. Yotamo stammt aus einer verarmten adligen Familie, und seine Mutter und seine Schwester Mimosa schicken ihm die Reste des Familienvermögens zum Abschluß seiner Studien. Als Mimosa durch den Tod der Mutter völlig mittellos wird, arbeitet sie als Geisha in einem Teehaus. Dr. van Halsten nimmt einen Ruf als Marinearzt in Tokio an und sucht sie - vergebens. Bis er zufällig mit einem Bekannten das Teehaus betritt, in dem sie arbeitet. Als sie sich weigert, dem Bekannten zu Willen zu sein, nimmt van Halsten sie zunächst mit in sein Haus.
Als er nach Europa zurückkehrt, kommt sie mit ihm. Nun muß der Bruder beim Wiedersehen mit seiner Schwester feststellen, daß sie eine Geisha ist. Mit dieser Schande kann er nicht leben, er ersticht sie. Als sie ihm sterbend erzählt, daß sie das alles nur für ihn und seine Karriere getan hat, begeht er Harakiri. (filmportal.de)
