Synopsis in German
Als ein Londoner Lokalpolitiker am Themseufer selbstbewusst verkĂŒndet, der Verschmutzung des Flusses werde bald Einhalt geboten, unterbricht ihn ein Entsetzensschrei: Im schlammigen Wasser sehen seine Zuhörer eine Frauenleiche herantreiben. Der unheimliche âKrawatten-Mörder" hat ein neues Opfer gefunden.
Zur gleichen Zeit verliert Richard Blaney (Jon Finch), einst Staffelkommandant bei der Royal Air Force, jetzt zum Bierzapfer abgestiegen, seinen Job. Robert Rusk (Barry Foster), ein befreundeter GemĂŒsehĂ€ndler in Covent Garden, bietet ihm Hilfe an. Blaney ist an diesem Tag jedoch nicht nur vom Pech verfolgt, er hat auch bald die Polizei auf den Fersen, als seine geschiedene Frau Brenda (Barbara Leigh-Hunt) umgebracht wird und verschiedene Indizien gegen ihn sprechen. Seine Freundin Babs (Anna Massey) hĂ€lt zu ihm. Kurz darauf wird auch sie ermordet. Rusk bietet Blaney an, er könne sich in seiner Wohnung verstecken - und liefert ihn der Polizei aus. Blaney wird zu lebenslanger Haft verurteilt. Er weiĂ jetzt jedoch, wer der wirkliche Mörder ist. Um sich an ihm zu rĂ€chen, bricht er aus.... (ARD Presse)
