Biographical Notes
Regisseur des französischen Kinos, erster Kontakt mit dem Film 1908 als Schauspieler und 1909 als Drehbuchautor. Als Regisseur debütierte er 1911, seine bedeutenden Werke schuf er 1919 mit dem Antikriegsfilm "J'accuse", "La Roue" (1923) und dem Epos "Napoléon" (1927). Seine späteren Filme konnten die Bildkraft dieser Stummfilme nicht mehr erreichen. (lhg 2011)
