Ralph Arthur Roberts was born on October 2, 1884 in Meerane, Sachsen. He was a German Actor, known for Der Maulkorb (1938), Mädchen für alles (1937), Alte Kameraden (1934), Ralph Arthur Roberts's first movie on record is from 1919. Ralph Arthur Roberts died on March 12, 1940 in Berlin. His last motion picture on file dates from 1940.
Biographical Notes in German: Schauspieler des deutschen Theaters und Films in zahlreichen Charakterrollen, eines seiner Kennzeichen war sein Monokel. Eigentlich Robert Arthur Schönherr, Sohn eines Bäckers, privater Schauspielunterricht. 1903 Theaterdebut in Wiesbaden am Residenz-Theater. Weitere Theaterstationen in Breslau und Hamburg am Thalia-Theater. 1914 bis 18 Soldat und Offizier im Ersten Weltkrieg, Theater in Berlin. 1928 ist er der Direktor des Theaters in der Behrensstrasse.
Filmdebüt 1919 in «Erdgift» nach Frank Wedekinds "Erdgeist". Bald aber war R.A. Roberts fetsgelegt auf kauzige Honorationen und schrullige Würdenträger in relativ leichtfüssigen Publikumsproduktionen der Zwanziger und Dreissiger Jahre. R.A. Roberts schrieb auch eigene Stücke und Drehbücher, Spottverse und Liedertexte. Von ihm stammte der Evergreen "Auf der Reeperbahn nachts um halb eins.." Er wusste die Gunst des Publikums zu geniessen und galt auch sonst nicht als Kostverächter: Kurz nach Ausbruch des Zweiten Weltkrieges starb er am 12. März 1940 in Berlin an den Folgen einer Austernvergiftung. (lhg 2012)
