Henry Hathaway was born under the given name Henri Leopold de Fiennes on March 13, 1898 in Sacramento, Cal.. He was an American Director, known for Garden of Evil (1954), Airport (1969), White Witch Doctor (1953), Henry Hathaway's first movie on record is from 1917. He was married to Elvira Weil (1919-1931) and Blanche (Skip) Gonzalez (1932-1985). Henry Hathaway died on February 11, 1985 in Hollywood, California, USA. His last motion picture on file dates from 1974.
Biographical Notes in German: nach anderen Quellen 1900 geboren, Regisseur des amerikanischen Kinos, Regieassistent u.a. von Victor Fleming Ende der Zwanziger Jahre. Zusammenarbeit als 2nd Unit Regisseur für Josef von Sternberg, dann anfangs der Dreissiger Jahre als selbständiger Regisseur tätig, hier auch schon vorwiegend Western und Actionfilme mit Schauspielern wie Randolph Scott, Gary Cooper und Henry Fonda. In den Vierziger Jahren Filme der Serie Noire wie "Kiss of Death" oder "Call Northside 777", von den Fünfziger Jahren an dann vorwiegend wieder grossangelegte Western wie "he sons of Katie Elder" oder "How the West Was Won". 1970 zog sich Hathatway von Film zurück.
