He was an American Producer, Author, known for The big Punch (1921), Jackie (1921), Little Miss Smiles (1922), William Fox's first movie on record is from 1914. William Fox died on May 1, 1952 in New York, NY, US. His last motion picture on file dates from 1935.
Biographical Notes in German: Amerikanischer Filmunternehmer und Produzent, 1904 Mitinhaber der PENNY ARCADE in New York, Gründung der Gesellschaft zur Auswertung von Filmen Fox, Moss and Brill. 1913 gründete er in New York das Verleihbureau Greater New York Film Rental und die Produktion Fox Office Attractions Company, die er beide 1915 zur Fox Film Corporation vereinigte. 1917 zog Fox nach Hollywood, gründete das Atelier Sunset Studio am Hollywood Boulevard. 1927 erwarb er die amerikanischen Rechte für das deutsche Tonfilmpatent Tri Ergon. In Folge des amerikanischen Börsenkrachs musste Fox 1929 seine Anteile an der Fox Film Corporation verkaufen, 1935 musste er sich aus der Leitung der Firma zurückziehen. (lhg 2006)
