Biographical Notes in German: geboren in Wien als Carl Cäsar Willy Simon, sein Vater war Jude und starb am 29. September 1942 im Konzentrationslager Theresienstadt. Willy Eichberger, der den Namen seiner Mutter Maria Anna Louise Eichberger aus Elberfeld angenommen hatte, stammt aus einer Sängerfamilie, anfänglich Bankangestellter, dann Schauspielunterricht an der Staatsakademie, Engagements am Burgtheater Wien, später nach Berlin. Nach der Machtübernahme der Nazis flüchtete er nach USA und arbeitete unter dem Namen Carl Esmond in Hollywood.
